During the rest of my stint in the Big Smoke,  I’ll be working hard to prepare for this show; the goal is to create several new silk screens of new work, as well as some reissues of older pieces. During this time I’ll be living with UK art duo Owls, who make dreamy and strange animations about meat packers and cake clouds. They also share members with the one man electronic band SPORTSDAY MEGAPHONE. I’ll also be working along side Canadian natives and fellow transplants “Swan & Pedo”. Pedo a.k.a. illustrator Peter Ryan will be collaborating on at least one piece for the show, and Swan a.k.a Jillian Wood of Head Mistress head bands and I will be sharing a table together at the Sunday Up Markets here in Brick lane.

The Cheaper Show returns once again.

On June 21st, 2008, the eighth installment of The Cheaper Show series will take place in the Gastown district of Vancouver, BC.

The concept of The Cheaper Show is very simple: 150 multi-disciplined international artists presenting 300 pieces of art, each priced at $200 for one night only. Far from being an ‘art sale,’ each exhibiting artist consciously makes a sacrifice by selling their work for less than its potential value. This creates united support for the event, the arts community, and an opportunity for this show to take place in an environment that is accessible to everyone. In turn, many walk away with sales, exposure, commissions and gallery representation, as well as having an opportunity to connect with peers on an even playing field.

Sweet Calavers: Group Show, At Yves Laroche Gallerie, Montreal, Oct 31st 2007.

Galerie d’art Yves Laroche and guest curator Ximena Becerra are proud to acquaint you with their latest group exhibition, Sweet Calaveras. All are invited to the opening this Halloween. Inspired by Mexico’s traditional Day of the Dead, invited international artists were asked to reinterpret the theme of life and death onto their chosen medium. Typically considered to be a macabre symbol of death in North America, the calavera (meaning “skull” in Spanish) is being reinterpreted in this exhibition with hopes to shift our perception of this universal icon. “We are trying to demystify the skull symbol and what can be more positive than embracing life and death.” says exhibition curator Ximena Becerra, “All of it is not as scary as it seems.”

6pm, 4 ST-PAUL EST, MONTRÉAL, Gallery web site >>>> here.
